I know I'm a day late, but...

Happy Birthday, erinm_4600!

So, for your birthday, here is a little snippet of the next chapter of My Sacrifice.

So, this is the story of how I died and became a headcase, not that I wasn’t before, mind you. But things got stranger after Her Highness, Princess Azkadelia, used her magic to bring me back. Only I came back broken, more broken than before. But it wasn’t her fault. It was destiny, our destiny. We both made a sacrifice: I died protecting her and she lost her magic bringing me back. Some would say my sacrifice was greater, but was it really? Can sacrifices be measured? Should they be? No. Sacrifices come in many forms, whether it’s giving up your place in line because the person behind you has fewer items, or going to the poor widow with children and giving her two of your best chickens to feed her family, or giving someone shivering in the cold your brand new coat instead of the raggedy one with holes, all of these are noble sacrifices and not one is greater than the other. But maybe mine was, as some would call it, the ultimate sacrifice.

I was given a second chance and at the time, I didn’t know why. Why was I so special out of the men that died that day? Simple, I was there. You see, bringing someone back is a one-time deal. When the good witches of the OZ use their magic to bring someone back from the clutches of death, it takes every bit of magic they have. That’s why it’s a sacrifice. I don’t recall any of the good witches making that choice, other than Her Majesty, the Queen. Using magic to undo the acts of nature, like bringing a person back to life, comes at a price. But something great, wondrous, and powerful happened, and that’s the story I’m going to tell you.

Before I begin, you’re probably wondering what happened to Zero. Well, that story I’ll leave up to Wyatt.

In school news: I passed that benchmark I was fretting over.

In house news: We know why the mortgage company dropped the foreclosure against us, they sold our account to a different company. Nice. Now we get to start the process all over again. But, if it keeps us in the house for another year, long enough for Mini-Me to graduate high school, I'm okay with it.

In Hubby's work news: He was told he's going to be offered a full-time position once his contract is up.

So, we have another adventure with a new mortgage company.

He knew they were thinking of keeping him, but at least it's mostly official now; Hubby was told in secret because they don't want him to start looking for another job.
